✅January

WE MADE IT!!!

I feel like a broken record these days but January in the accounting world truly is a beast of its own. There’s so many moving parts! Something all business owners can relate to is the rush to get your bookkeeping completed in January so that you can issue a variety of tax forms by the 1/31 deadlines. You also need to get your bookkeeping completed so you can finalize your Q4 estimated tax payment & make it by the mid-month deadline.

👊✊💨

Then you’re focusing on fine tuning the last few problems to close out the prior year & starting to gather a lengthy list of documents for your tax expert so that you can file your taxes. All while simultaneously trying to give adequate attention to your new year goals.

It’s a lot!!

This year marked my 9th year-end January close, but it was my 1st as an entrepreneur fully in charge calling the shots. It certainly wasn’t the craziest but there were a lot of long hours involved. I’m proud of our little firm though! We put our heads down, stayed organized, & met our deadlines all without too much stress (just a lot of screen time & billable hours clocked).

👊✊💨

I had the (not) smart idea of launching an education course & podcast all within the same month too - not my brightest moment, I know. But we’re super proud of what we put together! The vision for Full Throttle Finance™️ is blossoming more than I ever could’ve hoped it would & we’re having so much fun building it along the way.

👊✊💨

It’s still so very humbling

to sit here & think about all the amazing clients that we get to serve on a daily basis. They truly make the work enjoyable & we support each + every one of their missions. It’s also humbling as a business owner to sit back & look at the workplace that I am creating for my empowered team. Seeing the creativity pop up, watching interests spark, & witnessing the engagement increase first-hand are some of the most rewarding responses we can receive from employees as leaders in business. I’m building the workplace I knew COULD exist by bridging the gap between what's best for both employers & employees. (i.e. the workplace I wanted)

👊✊💨

I threw up a little when I reviewed my own personal working hours in January as a CEO - a mild 7.5 hr day on average…for every single day of the month with no days off. But it was worth it because so many of our clients got to get started on their taxes in January/early February this year (who have historically filed in fall using extensions).

👊✊💨

You know what I did the first weekend in February? Sleep.

Lots & lots & lots of sleeeeeeep. Then it was right back to it this week to start working on closing January 2025 for our clients. Because the machine keeps on rolling! Many of our clients are entering their peak-busy seasons starting here with February so long days aren’t totally out of the picture just yet!

👊✊💨

I hope you like these CEO inside-view style blogs - I’m going to start putting them out weekly. Various topics, lots of first-hand thoughts. Another inside view of how my curious brain operates.

👊✊💨

OH!! & don’t forget to check out episode 6 of Full Throttle Finance™️dropping 2/7/25 at 10am PST. This episode is not our normal finance-driven chatter. Instead, we’re going to be talking about another very important entrepreneurial topic… leadership! Tune in & share with a friend.

👊✊💨

Until next week, folks! -Felicia (CEO)
